Our story

1895

One house, five generations.

An inn on the new Brenner railway, three sisters who carried it through a century, and an innkeeper ahead of his time. In the early 1980s a film crew captured it all.

The war changes everything

Leo, the only son and intended successor, is killed in the war. The life plans of the three sisters change radically: they step in to run the business and stay.

In the middle of the lean post-war years, Leonhard Schrott builds the first swimming pool in Klausen out of an old manure pit. The guests come, the competition marvels.

Elisabeth „Sissa"

The face at the front

Business school in Bolzano. Ran the reception, office and breakfast service and was for many guests the first and often only point of contact.

Frieda

The heart of the kitchen

Learned to cook directly from her mother. Ran the kitchen and the laundry, loved the large garden with its flowers and preferred to stay behind the scenes.

Hildegard „Hilde"

The structure in the house

Hotel management school in Heidelberg, practical training at the Kurhaus in Merano. She was in charge of rooms, floors and housekeeping and brought professional order to the house.
